If you are not familiar with the term the “Grand Strand”, it consists of many areas and cities along the north coastline of South Carolina. The most recognized area along the Grand Strand is Myrtle Beach, SC.  Other areas include North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island, Conway, Carolina Forest, Briarcliffe, and Socastee.

There are two things to consider when figuring out what your taxes will be on your property. There was better news again this quarter. For the second consecutive quarter, all three Counties have shown percentage increases in the number of units sold compared to the same quarter in the previous year.

Burgess Community Association Canidates Forum | Question Council Chairman Canidates

This event is open to the public and will be publicized. Community members are invited to take part in this event on June 3, 2010 at 7:00 pm at Burgess Elementary School on Scipio Lane. Candidates for state and county offices including Council Chairman Candidate Howard Barnard, Tom Rice, and three individuals running for Council District #5 - the seat to be vacated by Howard Barnard, are expected to be in attendance.

The map shown below indicates the placement of the new Lakes Neighborhood exit and the widening and Interchange at Glenn's Bay Road and US 17. The proposed Lakes exit will connect to Holmestown Road. The additional exit will provide a Northbound exit for residents of The Lakes Community. This exit is being constructed in conjunction with the Glenns Bay widening and Interchange Project. This will also ease traffic when the final Glenns Bay and 17 Overpass Project is completed. For additional roadway construction information contact the South Carolina Department of Transportation or visit www.scdot.org.

Road Construction and Lane Closures - The Garden City Connector!

New Wal-Mart in Garden City Prompts SC Roadway Construction

istock_000010424750xsmall_400Roadwork is set to begin on the Garden City Connector to widen a portion of the road near the intersection of Business Highway 17. This roadwork is being completed in conjunction with the new Wal-Mart that is coming to the Garden City, SC area. County representatives’ state that a majority of the roadwork will occur during evening hours with intermittent lane closures from 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM over the next two weeks (this is the proposed length of time).

The County hopes to resume and maintain full lane usage during daylight hours, with both lanes of traffic open for commuters.
