The Grand Strand is like many of the markets across the country when it comes to the percentage of homes sold that are distressed homes. Below are market statistics taken from the local MLS on June 9, 2010. A majority of the offers we have submitted this year have been on properties that are either foreclosures or short sales. If your agent can help to get a short sale approved there are some really good opportunities to buy oceanfront homes in the Myrtle Beach area at great prices.
Quick Statistics
- 404 homes sold along the Grand Strand in 2010 were either short sales or foreclosures.
- There have been 1,652 homes sold in 2010 along the Grand Strand.
- There are currently 6,355 listed along the Grand Strand.
- Out of the 6,355 homes listed along the Grand Strand 836 of these homes are either short sales or foreclosures.
- 24% of the homes sold along the Grand Strand in 2010 were foreclosures or short sales.
- 13% of the homes listed along the Grand Strand are short sales or foreclosures.
Although the above statistics show there have been many short sales and foreclosures sold in the Myrtle Beach area in 2010. It is not as bad as many people make it sound. So often I have heard buyers telling me that distressed property sales are more than 50% of the homes sold. If you are interested in foreclosures or short sales, please use our Myrtle Beach home search to search by subdivision, foreclosures, short sales, etc....
