Conway SC Homes

Established in 1733, Conway SC real estate has seen significant development in response to the explosion of interest in outlying areas located directly on the Atlantic Ocean. In spite of the building boom, Conway real estate still features abundant farmland and undeveloped acreage.

Conway History

Conway has a very rich history. It was originally named Kingston in honor of British King George I. It was later renamed Conwayborough, and eventually shortened to Conway, in honor of Revolutionary War veteran and local legislator Robert Conway. During the Revolutionary War, General Francis Marion used Conway as headquarters for a significant military campaign.

Conway was known for timber production in the 1870's, facilitated by the arrival of the railroad in the late 1880's. The town is more rural than its counterparts along the Grand Strand and serves as an access port to the Waccamaw River. Area residents looking for room to roam look for land in Conway.

Conway Neighborhoods

Conway neighborhoods boast lush, natural beauty, situated on the Waccamaw River and near the Atlantic Coast. With new homes, historic homes and condos, these areas offer coastal living with a Southern country charm. Conway communities are arguably the predominant family location along the Grand Strand, with larger lots that allow room to roam.

Heritage Preserve is one of the newer Conway neighborhoods, with energy-efficient Centex homes nestled amongst Live Oaks and natural wetlands.
