Conway Real Estate

A Riverside Town of Friendly Neightbours, Historic Buildings and Ancient Oaks

Did You Know?

The city of Conway is one of the oldest towns in America, established in 1733, in what was then South Carolina's colonial frontier

Overlooking the Waccamaw River, Conway offers an appealing blend of small-town friendliness, modern conveniences, and old south charm. Among the oldest towns in America, Conway was established in 1733. The Conway area was home to the South Carolina Waccamaw Indians, whose name graces the rivers and region.

Conway was originally named Kingston to honor Great Britain's King George I. During the Revolutionary War, General Francis Marion operated in this region, waging a monumental campaign for American freedom. Following independence, the town was renamed Conwayborough (later shortened to Conway) in honor of Robert Conway, a veteran of the revolution and a prominent local legislator.

Through hard work Conway eventually flourished as South Carolina's outpost on the Waccamaw River. In the 1870's Conway boomed as an export center for timber products, shipping these products around the world. The railroad came to Conway in 1887; a few years later it was extended to the coast, launching what is now Myrtle Beach.

Today, like all areas much has changed, but Conway has still remained a pleasant riverside town of friendly neighbors, historic buildings and houses, and ancient live oaks

Conway Real Estate

Conway offers many different types of real estate opportunities that cannot be found in other areas along the Grand Strand. Conway does not border the Atlantic Ocean, so you won't find the oceanfront property, but you will find homes in this area with acreage, farms, undeveloped land, townhouses, condos, waterfront property etc.

As the coastal regions along the Grand Strand are becoming more and more developed, the Conway area is starting to become very appealing for many people. As roads and bridges continue to be built, many of the regions further inland are starting to become more accessible. Conway, like many of the areas along the Grand Strand, offers something unique that can only be found in that area.
