Myrtle Beach Houses
More than 14 million people come to Myrtle Beach every year, but the metropolitan region is only home to about 250,000. Residents here can take advantage of abundant business services, parks, and renowned golf courses.
Myrtle Beach's expanded infrastructure, beautiful oceanside setting, and affordable real estate have combined to produce something a bit surprising: an affordable resort community. With great prices on a variety of listings, it might be easier than you think to find a Myrtle Beach house that suits your needs. Many areas near Myrtle Beach have median home prices of less than $200,000. Townhouses and condos are also popular options with pricing in the $1-200,000 range. Myrtle Beach is also one of the largest luxury home markets on the Atlantic Seaboard.
With a population that's steadily catching up to its tourist base, Myrtle Beach may not remain a small city forever. Have a look at some of the great homes for sale here, before they're snapped up.
New Homes in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach's steady growth in recent years has helped produce a lot of new homes in many different styles. A tourist base is helping to drive the real estate market here, but not all visitors are looking for the same type of seasonal home. Some want condos, while others are interested in townhouses or traditional residences, depending on how much of the year they want to spend in Myrtle Beach. As a result, all new housing types are available and affordable here.
One thing to keep in mind when you're looking for a new home in Myrtle Beach is that its oceanfront is almost built out. You won't find a lot of new $750,000 oceanside homes on the market, but you will find an abundance of more affordable homes inland, or “second row” to the ocean in the $200,000 range.
Because of the local construction boom, architectural innovation is also coming into play in almost every Myrtle Beach new home for sale. Many condo units feature tiered, rounded designs, allowing for more community oriented buildings which have become just as popular as classically-styled, flattened skyrises.
Myrtle Beach Homesites for Sale
Myrtle Beach is a great place to buy some property and build your own home. This South Carolina city is one of the most well established resort communities in the U.S – as it continues to grow, your investment could pay off in a big way.
Most Myrtle Beach homesites for sale are inland, off the oceanfront – beaches along the Grand Strand have been among the East Coast's most popular resort locations since the early 1960s, and are largely developed. Inland you'll find much of the same topography consisting of sand dunes and long grass, but prices are closer to $100,000 per acre – a price most homebuyers can afford if they want to build a home that will accumulate a lot of value.
The few ocean properties that remain in Myrtle Beach are beautiful and pricey, at more than $1.5 million per undeveloped half acre. In some neighborhoods near the water, the trend has been to level homes and build new ones, as the property is so valuable it's worth it to invest money in a new building.
